Firewalk Success!

Written by Emma on 25th July 2014

On Sunday 21st October brave volunteers took part in an impressive fire-walk challenge at Fusion Brasserie at Stoulton, Worcestershire. They went through a 2-hour training seminar first, to equip them to face the impossible and then every one of them bravely stepped out over 20 feet of red-hot embers.

Whilst they were busy training, all their families and supporters were entertained in the lovely surroundings of the restaurant. They were treated to music from the fabulous Louella, astounding illusion from the 2009 British Isles Close-up Magician of the Year, Mr David Taylor and a demonstration of mouth-watering cooking from award-winning chef Felice Tocchini. Felice, and his team, also provided the fabulous buffet meal served after the successful firewalk challenge took place.

The firewalkers were all sponsored to take part in the challenge and the event raised an estimated £3000 to help Children Today provide specialised equipment for local disabled children.

One of the team was Pete Grinnall (pictured here) of Complete Spas at Blackminster Business Park. Pete said afterwards “[It was] One of the most exhilarating experiences I have ever known, very well run and at no time did I feel in danger. I’m glad that we raised so much money in the current climate and on a wet Sunday evening what could be better. Beats watching the X Factor!”

Children Today would like to thank all the firewalkers, Axios, sponsors of the event, NRG Networks for their support and Fusion Brasserie for providing such a fabulous venue and wonderful food. Also our thanks to David Taylor, Louella and Felice Tocchini, who all freely gave their time and skills.
