Shannon's New Pink Wheels

Five year old Shannon is visually impaired and has difficulties with depth and height perception. She also has problems accessing distance information which causes her to feel uncertain when moving which has impacted on her ability to achieve the full range of independent mobility and social integration enjoyed by her sighted friends. Shannon’s family applied to Children Today for funding for a specialised tricycle as it will improve her coordination, is a fun way to exercise and would increase opportunities for independent play enabling Shannon to participate in games and other activities with her friends and family.

We are pleased to tell you that Shannon now has her equipment and her mum wrote to Children Today to tell us how much she enjoys her new trike as you can see by her huge smile!
