Crown Glory

Written by Emma on 25th July 2014

It was once again another great night at the Crown in Cheadle where, George Tong and Carrie Connor, two of our intrepid adventurers who will be trekking the Inca Trail in Peru this April for Children Today, have done a considerable amount of their fundraising. Last week George along with friend Hannah entertained everyone with their fabulous singing voices while magician Jason Rea dazzled everyone with his illusions. Together they brought the house down! Also a very special guest was in attendance, Afonso (14) from Cheadle who has cerebral palsy, was able to meet everybody and show off his new sit to stand wheelchair which Children Today helped fund.

Karen and Alan Williams, landlady and landlord of the Crown, and all the Crown customers have been incredibly supportive of both George and Carrie in their fundraising endeavours. Not only have they let them use the venue to hold various fundraising events such as race night and auctions but they have donated raffles prizes and bought and sold raffle tickets. Everyone has dug deep and helped the girls raise a fabulous £7,000! We would like to thank everyone for all their hard work fundraising as it will help make a real difference to many disabled children’s lives.
