PFA Children Today Grand Canyon Challenge 2013

Written by Emma on 25th July 2014

36 Children Today supporters have recently returned from a 10-day challenge in the Grand Canyon as part of the PFA Children Today Challenge to win the prestigious Challenge Cup. The 6 teams were captained by former professional football legends Lawrie Sanchez, Bob Bolder, Don Goodman, David Oldfield, Dave Beasant and Marco Gabbiadini.

During the trip, each participant successfully completed a number of physical challenges, including cycling, trekking and white water rafting, not to mention the ultimate challenge of the climb back out of the Grand Canyon in 108 degree heat! However, in the months leading up to the event each supporter had also taken on the personal challenge of raising thousands of pounds to help Children Today fund vitally needed equipment for disabled children living throughout the UK.

Collectively the group has raised over £100,000 and we would like to say a huge thank you to all the participants, the team captains and to everyone who has supported them in their fundraising. We would also like to thank the Professional Footballers Association for making this possible through their sponsorship.

We hope to see you all on the next Children Today adventure!
