Sebastian’s Trailer Trike

Written by Emma on 25th July 2014

Four year old Sebastian’s family approached Children Today for funding for a specialised tricycle that can be adapted to become a trailer. Sebastian has cerebral palsy which has affected his lower limbs and is unable to walk unaided. We were only too happy to help fund his new trike which will help strengthen Sebastian’s leg muscles and in time will hopefully help him walk and play independently.

Sebastian’s family wrote to Children Today to say how much he is enjoying his new trike and how it has made had a real impact on Sebastian and family life.

“To All at Children Today

Thank you so, so much for the wonderful donation towards Sebastian’s tricycle. It is absolutely amazing! It’s made such a difference already. We have used it in one form or another nearly every day since we got it. Sebastian’s legs are so much stronger – he is starting to pull himself up on the furniture and is trying to cruise around.

The bike can be taken so we can go on family bike rides. For the first time since Sebastian was born we have been able to go on days out and bike rides without worrying about Sebastian, because we know he’s safe and enjoying himself! He loves the tricycle so much he doesn’t ever want to get off it.

Every child should have a bike and we didn’t ever think that Sebastian would be able to ride one, but we have been amazed and are eternally grateful to everyone and the charity that has been shown to us. Thank you so, so much.

Emma, Adam and Sebastian”

We were able to provide this much needed equipment to Sebastian through the generous donation from The Jane Hodge Foundation. To fund this equipment cost £2,496.
