Go-To Seat

Six-year-old Nevaeh Jones from Walton, Liverpool, has enjoyed her first ever holiday abroad thanks to her special Go-To Seat seat.

Nevaeh – who her mum describes as someone who “lights up the room” – has cerebral palsy, developmental delay, and epilepsy. Because of her conditions, travelling on an aeroplane in a standard seat is not safe.

Nevaeh’s Go-To Seat means she could safely travel on an aeroplane for the first time.

“I’ve always dreamed of taking Nevaeh on a plane and creating those special holiday memories as a family,” says her mum, Natalie Mcaloon. “But it just wasn’t possible before. Nevaeh needs proper postural support, and we couldn’t risk her safety in a standard seat.

“We want Nevaeh to have the same joyful experiences as other children her age—to explore the world, play with her brothers, and make lasting memories. When I found out about the ‘Go-To Seat’, I knew it was the key to giving her that freedom. But with a price tag of over £500, it was simply out of reach for us financially. That’s when we reached out to Children Today—and they made what felt impossible, possible.”

Children Today stepped in to fully fund the seat—helping Nevaeh’s family take their long-awaited holiday together.

“The difference this seat has made is honestly beyond words,” Natalie continues. “Not only were we finally able to go on our first holiday abroad as a family, but it’s transformed our everyday life too. Nevaeh can now sit at the dinner table with us instead of being off to the side in her wheelchair. She can play on the floor with her brothers—just being a kid, the way she should.

“Before, she always had to rely on someone to hold her or sit in uncomfortable positions. Now she has more freedom, more comfort, and more independence. And for us as a family, it means we can be together in a way we couldn’t before.

“Most importantly, the seat gives us peace of mind. If Nevaeh has a seizure, we know she’s safe and secure. It’s no exaggeration to say it’s been completely life-changing.”
