Spreading festive cheer in our community!

Written by Lexi Heselwood on 19th December 2025

It’s been a busy festive period for us, packed full of fundraising activities. From supermarket bucket collections and gift wrapping to taking part in our first-ever Santa Float in Chester, the season has been nothing short of magical.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to all our wonderful volunteers and staff who gave their time during this extra-hectic period to support others. Your generosity truly made spirits bright and proved that many hands really do make light work, even at the busiest time of year.

We were delighted to kick off the festive season at Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse’s Breakfast with Santa Race Day, raising over £400 thanks to the generosity of the racegoers – even the ones who didn’t win big!

One of our Christmas highlights was joining Chester Grosvenor 76 Round Table for the first Santa Float of the season on 1 December. Alongside Santa, Mrs Claus and the Round Table team, we toured Blacon spreading Christmas cheer, raising vital funds for the community, and collecting food donations for the local foodbank. It was a feel-good start to December that left us all full of festive joy, albeit with tired legs after clocking up 13,000 steps in just three hours!

We were also thrilled to be invited by Manchester’s iconic Trafford Centre to take part in its annual Christmas gift-wrapping station, as well as Barons Quay Shopping Centre in Northwich, who welcomed us to set up a festive stall. Wrapping gifts, sharing smiles and raising funds – now that’s what we call a perfect present.

A special thank you also goes to Asda for welcoming us in-store, and to the wonderful people of Ellesmere Port for their incredible generosity. Your kindness helped make this festive season extra special for so many.

Emma Prescott, Charity Director at Children Today, said:

“Christmas is a time for giving, and I’m so proud of our volunteers, staff and supporters who went above and beyond during such a busy period. Every donation, every smile and every hour given helped us spread warmth and hope, which is the best gift we could ask for.”

As the year draws to a close, we’d like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Here’s to a happy, healthy and peaceful 2026!
