£2,000 raised by key workers for Children Today!

A generous team of workers at a Leeds-based transport company got together to raise thousands of pounds in donations for Children Today Charitable Trust.

Walkers Transport threw a party for its hard-working staff, all in the name of charity, as a big thank you for their relentless efforts during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Party in the Yard event raised money through a charity raffle with a number of exciting prizes – which were kindly donated by several of Walkers’ supportive partners. A 5* spa weekend, Manchester City match tickets and a 58inch TV were all up for grabs.

A wonderful total of £2,086 was raised at the event thanks to the efforts of the Walkers’ team.

Walkers’ Group Managing Director, Jason Scott, commended the successful charity event. He said:

“It was great to see so many of our colleagues come together for this event. It has been a tough couple of years, and we wanted to let our team know how much we appreciate all their hard work. It was inspiring to see everyone’s generosity in doing so, and the amount raised on the day is an amazing achievement.”

Emma Prescott, Charity Director at Children Today, commented:

“A huge thank you to Jason Scott, Chris Burley, the entire Walkers’ team and to all the staff for raising vital funds for our small charity and for inviting us to their amazing party.

“The money raised will allow us to continue supporting children and young people with disabilities across the UK, who are in desperate need of vital pieces of adapted equipment.

“The specialised equipment which we help provide like adapted trikes, hoists, adapted buggies and electric wheelchairs – to name a few – can be life-changing for not just the individual, but for all of their loved ones too.

“Having access to a piece of equipment to call their own, can open up a world of opportunities, reduce isolation and improve physical and mental wellbeing.

“Once again, thanks so much. You’ve helped change lives for the better.”
