In a thrilling show of courage and commitment, staff members from Associated Telecom – an industry leading IT and Telecoms provider based in Telford – took to the skies recently to raise funds for Children Today.
Six members of the Associated Telecom team – including the company’s Chairman, Steve Barratt, and Managing Director, James Bustin – completed an exhilarating tandem skydive from an altitude of 15,000 feet, reaching free-fall speeds of up to 160mph.

James Bustin, Alan Wynn-Davies, Steve Barratt, Oliver Smith, Amy Roberts and David Squires Oliver from Associated Telecom took part in a 15,000ft tandem skydive
The team set off from Black Knights Skydiving Centre in Lancaster to raise vital funds for Children Today, a charity based in Chester that helps provide specialist equipment for children and young adults living with disabilities across the UK.

The team has raised a total of £8,871
James Bustin, Managing Director of Associated Telecom explained why they chose to support Children Today in April 2024:
“As a company we vote to select a charity partner each year. Members of our team had supported Children Today previously and, following their recommendation, we were all very touched when learning about the amazing work they do.
“Since learning even more about Children Today, I really couldn’t think of a more deserving charity for us to support – the work they do is amazing and really changes families lives across the UK.”
The skydive, organised by Associated Telecom consultant Alan Wynn-Davies – who has taken part in 10 charity skydives since 2008 – raised over £5,000 to add to the funds Associated Telecom has raised in the last 12 months.
Since April 2024 Associated Telecom has raised over £8,800, more than doubling its fundraising target, through various fundraising activities, from bake sales to sponsored treks and of course the team skydive.

Amy Roberts and Alan Wynn-Davies from Associated Telecom, presented Children Today charity director, Emma Prescott with a cheque
Amy Roberts, one of the skydivers from Associated Telecom commented:
“It was a heart-pounding experience, but knowing it was for such a great cause made every second worth it. We’re proud to support Children Today and the incredible difference they make in the lives of so many families.”
Emma Prescott, Charity Director at Children Today, adds:
“We’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to the fundraiser, and a special appreciation goes to the brave employees from Associated Telecom – James, Steve, Alan, Amy, Dave and Oliver – who took the plunge for a cause they believe in. Thank you!”
